I have taken on the challenge of filling the post as administrator and co-ordinator of the Kent OPC.  I hope to be able to fulfill not only the vision of the original Dorset OPC organizers for a County OPC but also to foster the growth and evolution of the Kent OPC into a well-rounded research facility for all personal family historians with Kent roots.  This site is large and complex and will undergo some changes over time.  Some of the changes are already apparent in the new design and layout of the pages.  Growing this OPC will take time and I hope that you will be patient as I get each of the pages up and running.  Most importantly, you have a vital role in keeping this project alive.  This site cannot hope to fulfill its purpose without your continued dedication and support in the capacity of individual OPCs or in providing transcripts of records.  I need each of you and wish to take this opportunity, now, to thank you for your ongoing participation in this OPC project.

If you are unfamiliar with the OPC project concept, please read the Introduction page to find out what the OPC is all about.  You will also be able to contact us and volunteer, if you so choose.

Additional OPC Projects

Cornwall
Devon Dorset
Essex Hampshire
Lancashire Leicestershire
Somerset, now including Bristol Sussex
Warwickshire Wiltshire

More projects are expected to join the OPC scheme in the near future, including one for London.

How this Site Works

The navigation menu to the left contains links to separate pages, into many of which other web pages and web sites have been linked.  The sub-pages, in turn, contain transcripts, extracts, abstracts and indices of many Kent records.

For example, to locate what information is available for a particular parish, click on the link in the left-hand menu bar that reads "Parishes".  On the Parish page, read down the page to find the parish in which you are interested.  If the parish name is in blue then a parish page has been commenced for that parish.  Clicking on the parish name will trigger that particular parish page to open.  On the individual parish page you will learn if an OPC is available for that parish and also find links to records, photographs, news, and families associated with that parish.

Every page in this web site has a link to this Home page.  So, if you wish to change to another area of this web site but cannot find a direct link, return to this Home page and follow the link from here.  The parish pages, as well as any pages associated with a parish, have links back to the main Parish List and back to the home page of the individual parish.
