IN THE NAME OF GOD, AMEN, the 13th day of January Anno Domini 1681 and in three and thirtieth year of the reign of our Sovereign Lord Charles the Second by the Grace of God of England, Scotland, France and Ireland King, defender of the faith, etc, I, ROBERT DALLY of Chilham, in the County of Kent, yeoman, being sick and weak of body but of sound and perfect memory praised be God for the same do make this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following, that is to say,
First and principally I commend my soul unto Almighty God my Creator and my body to the earth from whence it was taken to be buried in Christian like manner according to the discretion of my Executor hereafter named.
Item, I give unto my son WILLIAM DALLY and his heirs forever one house and land lying and being in Chilham aforesaid and now in the tenure or occupation of Richard Gifford or some of his assigns and also I give unto my said son WILLIAM all my wearing apparel both linen and woolen.
Item, I give unto my son MARKES DALLY and his heirs forever one house with liberty to draw water at the well lying and being in Chilham aforesaid and now in the tenure or occupation of John Younge or some of his assigns.
Item, I give unto my daughter MARTHA the wife of ROBERT JULL and unto her heirs forever one house and backside lying and being in Chilham aforesaid and now in the tenure or occupation of the aforesaid ROBERT DALLY and John Williams of some of their assigns.
Item, I give unto my daughter JANE the wife of WILLIAM CLEAVELAND one shilling to be paid by my Executor within twelve months after my decease and also I give unto my said daughter JANE her dwelling in the rooms where I now live if she be left a widow and please to live in them herself during her natural life with free liberty to draw water at the well of the said house.
Item, I give unto my grandchild ROBERT SHIPWASH one little house in Chilham aforesaid and now in the tenure or occupation of John Dale or some of his heirs with free liberty to draw water at the foresaid well during his natural life and after his decease I will, give and devise the said house unto my grandchild ELIZABETH JULL and her heirs forever and also I give unto my said grandchild ROBERT SHIPWASH one chest marked with R and S and all that is in it.
Item, I will, give and devise unto my son-in-law ROBERT JULL all the residue of my estate whatsoever, and also my will and meaning is that my said son-in-law ROBERT JULL shall have one whole year’s rent after my decease of all my houses and lands keeping them well in repair before bequeathed and the rent of the little house for three years after my decease and all the residue of my estate except before bequeathed I will, give and devise unto my said son-in-law ROBERT JULL whom I make and ordain my whole and sole Executor of this my last Will and Testament not doubting his fidelity and care to be had and taken in the due performance hereof and so I finish and conclude this my last Will and Testament.
