      James Parsons, of Halwell and Elizabeth Hill of this parish [Beaworthy] married in this church by banns fifteenth day of May in the year One Thousand Eight Hundred and ten by me Thomas UpJohn [Curate]. This marriage was solemnized between us: James Parsons by his mark, Elizabeth Hill [signed]. In the presence of Richard Gerry/Elizabeth Smale.
      Richard Gerry signed as witness to nearly every marriage throughout 1810 and into 1811 so therefore must have been a churchwarden or sexton.
