MORNINGSTAR, David Louis With heavy hearts, we are saddened to announce the passing of David, age 78, on Saturday, August 25th at the St. Catharines Hospital with his son Jeff by his side. David was a loving husband, father, papa, and brother, and he will be deeply missed. David had many health issues over the past six years, and died suddenly but peacefully and without pain. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Jackie, and his four beloved children - Jill and Ken Janzen, David and Natasha, Jeffrey and Shannon, and Melissa and Ray Philip. David was the proud and loving Papa to eight beautiful grandchildren - Michael and his partner Katie Carey, Rebecca and Calvin McCormick, Joel Janzen, Samantha and Joshua Morningstar, Amanda and Erin Morningstar, and Cameron Philip. He was the youngest child of the late Raymond and Marie Morningstar, and the much loved brother of four sisters Dorothy Mokry, Marietta Slade, Audrey Presto, and Alma Leiding, and brothers Leroy and Edward. Remembered with love by his sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary and John Brickell, and Jo and Ron Terryberry. Predeceased by Michelle Osborne. David is also remembered by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, and Jacki's cousins. David retired from General Motors in 2001 and missed working so he followed up as a shuttle driver for Day Ford and later as a driver for Automotive Warehouse. David was a resident of Extendicare, St. Catharines these past four months. We cannot say enough about the excellent care he received from everyone - administration, nurses, PSWs, and housekeeping. Everyone gave him so much love and care and our thanks are endless. Thank you also to the Emergency Room nurses and doctors for their care and compassion during his final day with us. Lastly, but most importantly to Alma, your love and support means so much. You were my rock. As per David's wishes, there will be no service or visitation. Cremation has taken place and arrangements have been entrusted to Passfield Mortuary. Private inurnment will follow at a later date. Friends and family are invited to join us on Friday, August 31 from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. at the Thorold Legion, 3 Ormond St. S. (upstairs, wheelchair accessible) for a time of remembrance and celebration of our beloved David. Luncheon to be served. In memory of David, donations may be made to Extendicare, St. Catharines or Hospice Niagara. Condolences may be made at passfieldmortuary.ca
