      Knight of Milcote-on-Avon, Milcote-on-Stour, Weston Mauduit, Warwickshire, Of Drayton, Oxfordshire, of Alderminster, Worcestershire. Justice of the Peace for Warwickshire.

      Son and heir to John Greville of Dayton and Jane Forster. Grandson of Ralph Greville and Margaret Poyntz, and Sir Humphrey Forster.

      Husband of Anne Denton, daughter of John Denton and Isabel Brome, daughter of John. They had four sons; John, Sir Fulk, Thomas and Edward.

      Edward was knighted for his valiant behaviour at the Sieges of Therouanne and Tournai, and at the Battle of Spurs. He died 22 June 1528 testate, his will requesting burial at St Anne's Chapel, Weston upon Avon.

      IN DEI NOMINE AMEN, I, EDWARD GREVILE, Knight, sick in body thanked be God whole of remembrance make my testament and last Will in manner and form following,

      First I bequeath my soul to Almighty God, my body to be buried in Saint Anne Chapel in the Church of Weston.

      Item, I bequeath to the mother Church of Worcester vi shillings viii pence and to the Curate of Weston for offerings or tithes forgotten vi shillings viiii pence.

      Item, I will that my son THOMAS have to him and his heirs all such lands and tenements as I lately purchased of Maister Baldwyn and of Arches or any of them in the County of Buckinghamshire called Cromwell.

      Item, that my daughter ALICE be sufficiently found and kept by mine Executors and to be bestowed and disposed other unto religion or to marriage conveniently by her assent which such sums of money as by thadinse of mine Executors of the more part of them shall be thought reasonable.

      Item, I will that all the legacies and bequests made by Sir Thomas Denham, Knight, unto his children be performed and paid in such convenient time as shall be thought reasonable and by the assent of my wife and the supervisors of the same Will.

      Item, I will that all my debts declared in a bill with this my Will and such other debts as can be lawfully proved to be due shall be content and paid of and with such goods as I shall leave in as convenient time for the discharge of my soul as can be.

      Item, because it is doubtful whether the legacies and debts abovesaid and such other bequests as I shall herein make can be performed and paid with my goods I will that if they be not sufficient then my said Executors to take and perceive the issues and profits of the Lordship of Goldyeots and Rien Clifford during such years as shall be thought convenient by my Executors and such as I shall name Supervisors of this my Will or the most part of them and with this I shall desire my son JOHN to be contented.

      The residue of all my goods after my debts paid and my bequests performed, I give and bequeath to my Executors to be disposed and bestowed in charitable deeds for the wealth of my soul by the discretion of my said Executors whereof I will that my sister ELIZABETH be partner for her somcr? pain and labours taken with me and also Maistres Dalby and Joye Guston for their pain and labour and that every of my servants over thir wages truely contented have some reasonable reward by the discretion of my said Executors according to their haveor? and desserts.

      And for the execution and performance of this my last Will I make and ordain my welbeloved wife, DAME JANE, JOHN GRYVELE my son and heir, THOMAS DENTON my brother-in-law and SIR EDMOND now parson of Drayton, mine Executors. And because this my Will and other business concerning the same should be the more substantially performed I will my said Executors in all great causes desire and require on my behalf council and advise of Sir Edmond Tame, Knighty my brother-in-law and Richard Lyster, Esquire our sovereign Lord the King's attorney which I will and desire to be supervisors of this my testament and last Will made the xxist day of June the year of our Lord God a thousand five hundred twenty and eight.
