      "I will endeavour to find cuttings of the trial of John Jenkins, but very few existed, most of our information came from the T.V. although the case appeared open and shut, I and other people I have spoken to, people who went to school with him also do question if John could ever have committed such a dastardly deed."

      A farmer was yesterday accused of murdering former beauty queen Pauline Reed.

      John Jenkins, 58, of Molash, Kent, was remanded in custody by Ashford magistrates.

      He was arrested at Gatwick as he arrived back from a holiday.

      Pauline's body was found on farmland on June 1 - five years after she disappeared.

      She had been killed by blows to the head.
