Will of Nicholas Stiker of Bethersden [Beatresden], 1586
PROBATE etc. at this court Nicholas? Awsten, Vicar of Bethersden the 4th day of March 1586, etc.
IN THE NAME OF GOD, AMEN, the seventh day of February in the 29 year of the reign of our most gracious and sovereign lady Queen Elizabeth, etc. I, NYCOLAS STIKER, of Bethersden in the County of Kent, being sick in body but in good and perfect remembrance God be praised therefor, do make and ordain this my present testatment containing therein my last Will in manner and form following:
First, I bequeath my soul into the hands of almighty God my everlasting saviour and redeemer and my body to be buried in the earth where it shall please God.
Item, I will unto STEVEN BENCHKEN, my son-in-law, six of my ewelumanting sheep anon after my decease. Also I will unto STEVEN BENCHKEN, my son-in-law, five shillings to be paid him anon after my decease
And I will unto my daughter, MYLDRED STIKER, forty shillings of good and currant money,
And also I will unto REBECKA and SUSAN and MARY STIKER, my younger daughters, to either of them forty shillings of good and lawful money to be paid unto them within two years after my decease,
And I will unto NYCOLAS STIKER, my son, my two black oxen and my weayne and plow court whelles [wheels], tythes, yokes and all manner of implements thereunto belonging and six ewelumanting sheep.
All the residue of my movable goods, corne and chattels being not bequeathed I will it unto MARYAN, my wife, whom I do ordain to be my sole Executrix of this my Will to pay my debts and legacies and other ordinary charges.

THIS is the last Will of me the fornamed NYCOLAS STIKER and by me personally declared for the disposition of my tenements and lands,
First I will that MARYAN, my wife, shall have the use and profits of all my lands and tenements in Bethersden during the term of her natural life paying unto NYCOLAS, my son, out of my said lands and tenements ten shillings a year half yearly to be paid him and for not paying the same I will the said NYCOLAS, my son, shall and may strayne for the same in any part or parcel of my said lands or tenements and after her decease, I will all my said lands and tenements in Bethersden aforesaid I will it unto the said NYCOLAS STIKER, my son, to be had to him and to his heirs forever.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF I have declared this my Will in the presence of these witnesses:
