    1. [S113] Stemmata Chicheleana: or, a genealogical account of some of the families derived from Thomas Chichele, of Higham-Ferrers, Ed., A.S.C., Oxford, England, (Oxford: Clarendon Press, 1765.), Preface, x-xi, 1765.
Stow, V. I., p. 381. Weever has preserved the following Epitaph of Sir Thomas Knolles and his Wife, transcribed from their tombstone in the parish church of St. Antholin, (Fun. Mon. p. 403.) from whence it may seem, that Margery Chichele inherited her prolific quality from her mother.

Here lyth gravyn under this ston (bon:
      THOMAS KNOLLES both flesh and
      Grocer, and Alderman yeres fortye,
      Sheriff, and twis Maior truly:
And for he shold not ly alone,
Here lyth wyth him his good wyff JONE:
They weren togeder firty [sic] yeres
And nineteen chyldren they had in feer.
Now ben they gon wee them miss:
Christ have here fowlys to heven bliss.
      Amen.
      ob. ann. 14 . . . . .

The next Epitaph in Weever is on Thomas the son of this Thomas Knolles; wherein we are informed that he also was, in some degree, a partaker in the fruitfulness of his family; for he had by his wife Isabel ten children. So that the children of Joan Knolles, Thomas her son, and Margery her daughter, amounted in the whole to fifty three.
