Biddenden is, ecclesiastically, in the diocese of Canterbury, in the archdeaconry of Canterbury and in the deanery of West Charing. The church is named All Saints with registers commencing 1538. Biddenden, a village and a parish in Tenterden district, Kent. The village stands 4 miles south of Headcorn rail station, and 5-1/2 miles northeast of Cranbrook; and has a post office under Staplehurst, and fairs on 6 April and 8 November. The parish comprises 7,208 acres. Real property in 1860, £6,933. Population in 1861, 1,412. Houses, 281. The property is much subdivided. The manor belonged, in the time of Edward III, to Sir Walter Manney; and passed to the Hendens. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Canterbury. Value, £436 with a habitable glebe house. Patron, the Archbishop of Canterbury. The church has features from early English to late perpendicular; and was restored in 1857.
